Apple have released the latest beta update to developers for their current Tiger platform with build 8S2138 of 10.4.11. This makes the second double figures update they have released for an OS and certainly seems that they wish to fully complete Tiger before moving on to Leopard.
A list of bug fixes has been publicly circulating, and include: AFP Server, CUPS and IPP, dyld and prebinding, CoreTextFont, ImageIO, dyld and threaded programs, SearchKit, enabling/disabling Bluetooth, CoreAudio and Safari, CoreAudio and decoding iTunes Plus files, File Manager and POSIX volumes, Daylight Savings and New Zealand time zones, Networking and Cisco VPN, Networking and UDP packets,HFS and non-existent blocks, Directory Services, AFP X Client and Kerberos, SearchKit and Zip disks, and Service Manager.

Apple has seeded the latest incarnation of their upcoming Leopard OS to developers with build 9A499. Reports indicate that although a number of bugs have been introduced the system feels much speedier overall. There are also rumours that some features may be dropped from the final release in the interests of stability.

So you've just updated to OS X 10.4.10 and you're looking for that new kernel – well SSE3 users for both Intel and AMD can now go and grab a patched version of the kernel from the channel #10.4.10 over on the IRC server irc.osx86.hu. Be warned this isn't for you SSE2 users as the emulator has not yet been added.

Thanks goes to The Creator for this.
This method will update your hackint0sh from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10 except for GMA900 and GMA950 users.
- Open up the terminal and type "sudo -s" then "your password" then the following (line by line):
CODE
| Code: |
cp /mach_kernel /old
cp -R /system/library/coreservices/loginwindow.app /
cp -R /system/library/extensions/AppleSMBIOS.kext /
cp -R /system/library/extensions/AppleACPIplatform.kext /
cp -R /system/library/extensions/AppleAPIC.kext /
cp -R /system/library/extensions/IOATAFamily.kext /
cp -R /system/library/extensions/system.kext / |
- Keep terminal open.
- Open disk utility and keep it open.
- Run Software Update and deselect everything but the 10.4.10 intel update and install it (AND DO NOT RESTART—IGNORE THE INSTALLER WINDOW)
- Open terminal and type the following:
CODE
| Code: |
cp /old /mach_kernel
cp -R /loginwindow.app /system/library/coreservices/
cp -R /AppleSMBIOS.kext /system/library/extensions/
cp -R /AppleACPIplatform.kext /system/library/extensions/
cp -R /AppleAPIC.kext /system/library/extensions/
cp -R /IOATAFamily.kext /system/library/extensions/
cp -R /system.kext /system/library/extensions/
rm -rf /system/library/extensions.*
|
- Open disk utility and repair permissions for your OS X partition.
- Reboot.
This does not update you to the new kernel as there is currently no option for that as of yet.
